Chris Hughton: 'Brighton & Hove Albion could have won by more'

Chris Hughton thinks that Brighton & Hove Albion's 4-1 win over Swansea City could have been even more emphatic due to the visitors' desperation to snatch a goal.

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton has suggested that his side were unlucky not to score even more goals in their 4-1 win over Swansea City.

The Seagulls recorded their biggest victory of the season on Saturday afternoon by netting four times in a Premier League game for the first time ever.

Three of Brighton's goals came in the final quarter of the contest after Swansea, who made all three subs in the space of 20 minutes either side of half time, chucked bodies forward in search of an equaliser.

Hughton says that Brighton profited from City's approach and reckons his side could have won by a greater margin at the Amex Stadium.

"We had to go through a difficult period," he told reporters after the match. "Particularly first half they showed what a good side they are and similar to ourselves have been in good, confident mood but as the game opened up I thought we really capitalised on that.

"Probably it's the game this season that we could have got more as well. There aren't too many occasions when you can say that. They opened up a little bit, went for it, and normally when a team does that it's going to go either way. It certainly benefited us."

Albion last racked up four goals in a top-flight match 37 years ago when beating Manchester City by the same scoreline.
