Gus Poyet targets Premier League job

Brighton manager Gus Poyet says that he would "deeply" think about leaving the Seagulls if a Premier League job offer were placed on the table.

Gus Poyet has admitted that he would consider leaving Brighton & Hove Albion for a Premier League job if the right position became available.

The 44-year-old has claimed that he would prefer to take the Seagulls all the way to the top flight, but stated that a switch to the elite league couldn't be ignored.

"I'm not the type of manager who will tell you what everybody wants to hear, 'I'm going to stay here for life'," the Daily Star quotes Poyet as saying. "I am going to stay here because it's a great place to be now.

"In three or four years' time if I didn't make the Premier League and I have the chance to go to a top-flight club that I think is a better opportunity, then the chairman knows that, there are no secrets.

"At the moment I prefer not to think about it because if you start thinking this manager is coming, going, this club has no manager, you don't concentrate on the job. If it's coming, we will deal with that. If it's the right place, then we have a problem because I'm going to think about it deeply."

Brighton have the chance to knock Liverpool out of the FA Cup when they go head to head at Anfield on Sunday.
