Brighton & Hove Albion beat Yeovil Town 2-0 to relegate the Glovers from the Championship.

Yeovil Town's relegation from the Championship has been confirmed following their 2-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium this evening.

Ruben Palazuelos almost gave the visitors the lead in the opening 20 minutes, powering the ball towards the goal from the edge of the area, but his strike was kept out by the crossbar before Gordon Greer headed it away.

Brighton responded to the threat and dominated the remainder of the opening period, with Andrea Orlandi and Will Buckley both having chances before the break, but they were unable to take the lead.

After a scrappy opening spell in the second half, Orlandi tried to create an opportunity with a low ball in towards Leonardo Ulloa, but Shane Duffy reached it first before making the clearance.

Marek Stech was called into action to keep his side level just before the hour mark as Jesse Lingard tried to cross the ball for Ulloa, but the Yeovil keeper tipped his header over, before the striker missed the target from the resulting corner.

The Glovers hit the woodwork for the second time when Liam Davis - who had come off the bench less than two minutes earlier - picked out Joe Edwards, but his strike hit the bar before going behind.

Davis continued to cause problems for the Brighton defence when he sprinted down the wing before looking for Edwards again, but Tomasz Kuszczak directed his finish wide.

The home side sent on some fresh legs as they tried to force a late winner, and it paid off when Kazenga LuaLua tried to cross for Ulloa, but saw his effort go straight into the back of the net.

Brighton looked content to keep possession for the final 10 minutes to make sure of the win, before Lingard managed to put the result beyond doubt with a simple tap-in deep into stoppage time, confirming Yeovil Town's relegation back to League One.
