Keith Andrews says that Liam Bridcutt's departure would be a "massive blow" for Brighton & Hove Albion.

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Keith Andrews has said that he wants Liam Bridcutt to stay at the Amex Stadium amid reported interest from the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has recently been linked with Sunderland, with his former Seagulls boss Gus Poyet, now in charge at the Stadium of Light, said to be weighing up a £2m move in January.

"Liam is obviously a fantastic player coming into the prime of his career," Andrews told The Argus. "He is still only relatively a young lad but he has got bags of experience and if he does go it would be a massive blow and a big loss to the lads, because he is a popular player.

"Hopefully we can keep hold of him, hopefully we can keep hold of everybody because if we do I'd be very confident that we will be pushing.

"He is good enough to play in the Premier League without a shadow of a doubt. He's got the tenacity, the knowledge of playing in a certain way. He picks up very good positions and uses the ball very well."

Crystal Palace, Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion have also been named as potential suitors for the Scotland international.
