Middlesbrough midfielder Stewart Downing is reportedly attracting interest from Brighton & Hove Albion.
On Thursday, it was claimed that new Boro boss Garry Monk had told the 32-year-old that he was free to leave the Riverside Stadium, despite regular involvement last season.
According to The Sun, it has not taken long for a top-flight side to show a desire to sign the left-sided player, with Brighton & Hove Albion ready to make their move.
The Seagulls are looking for experienced additions ahead of their first-ever campaign in the Premier League, and Downing would fit the requirements of Chris Hughton.
As Middlesbrough were relegated back to the second tier, Downing still made 30 appearances in all competitions.
The North-East outfit will likely allow the former England international to leave on a free transfer in order to get him off the wage bill.
