Manager Chris Hughton has said that Brighton & Hove Albion will spend any transfer funds wisely this summer.
Chairman Tony Bloom has made funds available to Hughton to rebuild the squad after they finished 20th in the Championship table last season.
"Yes, there are funds available. What I am conscious of and what we have to be conscious of as a club is Financial Fair Play," Hughton told The Argus.
"We also have to be conscious that in anything we do we want value-for-money. I don't think it's right and appropriate that you are splashing out willy-nilly.
"It has to be done in a structured way and a value-for-money way but there are funds available and it's about how we can use them."
It is believed that Brighton are close to securing the signature of Iran international Alireza Jahanbakhsh.
