Brighton manager Sami Hyypia does not plan to enter the loan market to sign a striker, despite the Championship club's struggles in front of goal this season.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Sami Hyypia does not plan to enter the loan market in a bid to find a solution to his side's troubles in front of goal.

The Seagulls have found the net only 10 times in 11 Championship games so far this season, with only one of those strikes coming from a recognised striker.

Hyypia had been tipped to explore loan options that could bolster his goal-shy forward line, but the former Liverpool defender has claimed that there are no viable targets and so the improvement must come from within the current squad.

He told The Argus: "We are not particularly looking at something but, of course, we need goals. They have to come from somewhere.

"I hope our offensive players start to score goals and then we are okay. If not of course the pressure will be greater to get somebody on loan but at the moment we don't have a target to go for.

"We'll just wait. I'm quite confident that we have goalscorers in our team but they need to do the right things and they need to want to be in the box to score those goals when the balls are coming in."

Sam Baldock could return from a calf injury to give Hyypia another striking option for the visit of Middlesbrough.
