Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Forshaw has emerged as a rumoured transfer target for Premier League new boys Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 25-year-old is said to have been targeted by Albion boss Chris Hughton as a back-up option, having missed out on a move for Gent ace Renato Neto.
According to the Daily Mail, Hughton is preparing to test Boro's resolve by tabling a bid for the former Everton, Brentford and Wigan Athletic man.
Forshaw has made 71 appearances for the Smoggies since joining from Wigan for an initial sum of £2m two years ago, scoring twice from midfield during that time.
Hughton has already brought in five new players ahead of his side's first Prem campaign, which kicks off with a home match against Manchester City on August 12.
