Sunderland have entered talks with Brighton & Hove Albion over the signing of Kazenga LuaLua, according to reports.
The 27-year-old has been on the books of the south coast club since 2011 and has made 111 appearances for the Seagulls, scoring 13 goals.
Brighton have deemed LuaLua surplus to requirements over the past 18 months, however, and he spent the majority of 2017 on loan at Queens Park Rangers over two spells.
The former Newcastle United winger is back at the Amex Stadium after QPR terminated their loan spell at the start of December last year.
According to the Sunderland Echo, the Championship strugglers are desperately looking to add players to the squad before Wednesday's 11pm deadline.
The report goes on to claim that Chris Coleman is prioritising two strikers but is also looking to add wingers to his squad, with LuaLua fitting the bill.
LuaLua has not played for the Seagulls since a red card in the Football League Trophy in December 2016.
