Sports Mole rounds up all the action from League Two on New Year's Day.

Scunthorpe United have taken sole control of the pole position in the League Two table with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Rochdale at home.

David Syers gave the hosts the lead just before the hour mark and Sam Winnall scored twice in as many minutes late on to wrap up the points. Russ Wilcox's side are now two points clear at the top, while Rochdale, who finished the contest with 10 men as Michael Rose was sent off in the second half, are four points behind the leaders in fifth.

Burton Albion are now second after being held to a goalless draw at Mansfield Town, while Chesterfield slipped to third as they had their away match against Northampton Town postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Southend United are level on 41 points with Chesterfield but a place behind in fourth because of goal difference.

Ryan Leonard scored twice for the Shrimpers to help them to a 2-1 home win against Portsmouth on New Year's Day.

Oxford United had their match at Newport County postponed due to a waterlogged pitch but still remain in the playoff spots, and do so Fleetwood Town, who got the better of Accrington Stanley 3-1 at Highbury Stadium.

At the other end of the table, Northampton stay bottom and Torquay United remain a place and three points above them after losing 2-0 at Portsmouth.

However, York City have increased the gap between themselves and the relegation zone to three points with a 1-0 home win against Morecambe.

Ryan Jarvis scored from close range on the half-hour mark to help York register their first win in the league since October.
