David Amoo has vowed to repay Carlisle United after joining the club on a free transfer last week.
The 22-year-old, who departed Tranmere Rovers at the end of the season, was once regarded as one of the best young talents in England when he joined Liverpool from Millwall at the age of 16.
"It's fantastic to have this done. I have two years here now and it's a real opportunity to show everyone what I can do," he told the club's official website.
"I'm grateful to the manager for having that kind of faith in me and now it's up to me to repay that by getting out there and performing. I do definitely feel like I've got something to prove.
"I haven't nailed down a starting position at the other clubs I've been with and that's something which has to happen for me here. I need to be playing consistently well and that's where my focus will be. I'm just determined to push on and make a real impression."
Amoo had previously been linked with a number of Football League clubs.
