Celtic defender Mikael Lustig has revealed that he will not feature again for the club this season due to an ankle injury sustained earlier this year.
The 28-year-old has suffered a number of setbacks since joining the Bhoys from Rosenborg in 2012, managing just 36 starts in total.
Lustig has not played since February as a result of the latest problem, although he was hopeful of returning in time to play a part in his team's bid to land a domestic treble.
There is little chance of that happening now, however, with the Swedish international admitting that a comeback this side of the summer is highly unlikely.
"I have to put this season to one side," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. "I have been out for six weeks now and the foot is still swollen. I have a stretched ligament on the inside of my foot and bruised the bone on the outside.
"It may take three months before I'm good again. But I have to look on the positive side because I don't require an operation. We will see how long it takes, but it's looks like the season is over."
Lustig had made 16 appearances for Celtic this season prior to picking up his latest injury.
