Celtic manager Ronny Deila claims that the club is "lucky" to have Craig Gordon following the goalkeeper's decision to sign a new contract.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila has described Craig Gordon's contract extension as "brilliant news" for the club.

The goalkeeper penned a new deal with the Scottish champions on Wednesday, keeping him in Glasgow until 2018.

Gordon helped Celtic win the league and the Scottish League Cup last season after joining the club in summer 2014.

"This is brilliant news and we're all delighted that Craig has extended his contract at the club," Deila told Celtic's official website.

"He was my first signing as Celtic manager and since he joined us last summer, he has been an important member of the squad and he's made a great contribution to our success. Craig's a top-class goalkeeper and we're lucky to have him here at Celtic."

Gordon has been capped 43 times for the Scotland national team.
