Ronny Deila has claimed that Anthony Stokes still has a future with Celtic after the club suspended the striker for two weeks.
Stokes attracted attention last weekend for using Twitter to reveal his anger at being left out of the matchday squad, despite making the trip for the 3-1 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
It was confirmed on Thursday that the 27-year-old had been given a suspension by the club, but Deila believes that there is still a place for him in the squad.
"I think everybody understands it is not about that single coincidence," the Celtic boss told reporters. "It's been some issues in the past and now we felt we had to put down a marker.
"I think that's going to be good in the end for us and for Anthony as well. After 14 days he will come back and hopefully we can keep him working.
"I won't go into the different issues. That is between me and him and the club, of course. He has a future here. There are things that need to improve and that's with all the players as well."
Stokes has made just two appearances in all competitions this season.
