Celtic's Emilio Izaguirre says he could be back playing at Christmas after suffering a fractured ankle in August.

Celtic's Emilio Izaguirre has said that he could be playing by Christmas after suffering a fractured ankle at the beginning of the season.

The left-back sustained the injury against Aberdeen in August, with Bhoys medical staff originally suggesting February for a possible return. However, the Honduran will be free of crutches this weekend.

"The operation went really well and I hope I could be back for Christmas," said the 25-year-old.

"For me, it is a motivation to recover and get better soon and win my place back.

"I am sad at having to miss games because my son likes to see me play at Celtic Park."

Third-placed Celtic resume their SPL campaign on Saturday when they host second-placed Motherwell.
