Neil Lennon: 'Score doesn't reflect performance'

Neil Lennon believes that the 2-1 scoreline against HJK Helsinki flatters the Finnish side.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon believes that the 2-1 win over HJK Helsinki earlier tonight did not properly reflect the dominance that he felt his side enjoyed.

Celtic wasted several chances in the game and Lennon said that he is pleased with the performance but believes that the Finnish side can count themselves lucky.

"I am not disappointed at all," Sky Sports News quotes Lennon as saying. "It is a huge improvement on where we were last year.

"I think Helsinki can count themselves pretty fortunate that it was only 2-1. The scoreline doesn't reflect the performance but sometimes that happens.

"They will think they have got a good result but I have seen enough there [to suggest] there is plenty of scope for us in the away tie."

The return leg takes place on August 8.
