Former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is reportedly not close to taking over at Celtic.

The 43-year-old has been out of work since leaving the Vitality Stadium on August 1 last year.

Howe has been strongly linked with the Celtic job in recent weeks, which has been vacant since Neil Lennon stepped down at the end of February.

Sky Sports News claims that the Englishman has a number of other offers, but he will delay a return to management until the summer.

Celtic are said to have made Howe their top choice to succeed Lennon, though they are eager to make an appointment as soon as possible.

John Kennedy will remain in caretaker charge until a new man is brought in.
