Michael Smith has expressed his hope that his loan move to AFC Wimbledon will help him make the breakthrough at Charlton Athletic.
The 21-year-old Addicks striker moved to the League Two club during the summer transfer window on a loan deal until January.
Charlton manager Chris Powell recently handed a debut to youngster Joe Pigott, and Smith has said that he wants to follow in his footsteps.
"I've been keeping in touch with all the events at Charlton, the gaffer lives not far away so I've spoken to him a few times," Smith told Sky Sports News.
"I was over the moon to see Pigs make his debut against Millwall. He thoroughly deserves it and it's nice to see the gaffer giving players from the development squad a chance.
"Hopefully I'll return a more rounded player and be pushing for selection myself."
Smith has scored five goals in 11 appearances for Wimbledon.
