Huddersfield Town will continue to look for their first win of the season in the Championship when they travel to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic on Tuesday.

Chris Powell's side sit second bottom in the second tier ahead of their match against Charlton, who have won just one of their last five league outings.

Guy Luzon's side head into this match off the back of a 1-1 draw with Rotherham United in their first fixture following the international break, with Patrick Bauer scoring in the second half to secure the point for the hosts.

It looked like the London side had made a strong start to the season, winning twice and drawing twice in their first four fixtures of the season, but they have also won just once since the opening day, leaving them to slip to 10th in the table.

Summer signing Tony Watt had an early impact for the Addicks, scoring in both of his first two matches for the club, but has not found the back of the net since the draw with Derby last month.

Despite keeping clean sheets in just two of their six fixtures so far, Charlton have one of the stronger defences in the league, letting in just five goals so far; only Brighton & Hove Albion and Middlesbrough have conceded fewer.

This is Charlton's eighth season outside the top flight following their relegation in 2007, although they had secured a promotion since then, winning the League One title in 2012 after spending three years in the third tier.

Despite the transfer window having closed almost two weeks ago, the re-opening of the loan window has seen Charlton add to their squad again this week, with Everton striker Conor McAleny coming in on loan.

Huddersfield Town

It has been a difficult start to the season with Huddersfield Town securing just three points from their opening six fixtures, leaving them 23rd in the table.

The Terriers returned from the international break with a trip to Cardiff City at the weekend, but they were beaten 2-0 by the Bluebirds, leaving them with back-to-back losses following a 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers last month.

The team's win drought also saw them eliminated from the League Cup in the first round of the competition, being beaten by 10-man Notts County of League Two last month.

Huddersfield have the joint-worst record in front of goal in the Championship so far this season, scoring just three times in the league, the same as Preston North End and Bolton Wanderers. Nakhi Wells has found the target twice while Jacob Butterfield also has a goal, with each effort helping the team secure a 1-1 draw.

The departure of goalkeeper Alex Smithies has also had an effect on Powell's side this season, with Huddersfield yet to keep a clean sheet in a league fixture.

Although the side did pick up a couple of wins in pre-season fixtures, the last competitive win for Huddersfield was back in April, when they clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Team News

The home side have not announced any fresh injury concerns following their draw with the Millers at the weekend, but there could be a debut for McAleny, who is eligible for the match after joining from Everton today.

Simon Makienok was left on the bench for the first time since joining over the summer, but came on with almost half an hour remaining against Rotherham, so may return to the starting lineup.

Meanwhile, the visitors could also have an unchanged squad for the trip to The Valley, with only Jonathan Hogg needing a late fitness test after picking up an ankle knock at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday.

Joe Murphy and James Vaughan are both still out with calf injuries though, while Mark Hudson is still recovering from an ankle knock, leaving them on the sidelines for this fixture.

Having both been promoted from League One in the same season, this is the seventh straight campaign that these two sides have been in the same league. In the same period, these two sides have also met three times in cup competitions, making this their 16th meeting since October 2009.

In 47 previous fixtures between the two clubs, Charlton have secured 22 wins, while Huddersfield have 15 victory, and just 10 matches have ended in draws.
