Sunday morning's Chelsea transfer talk news roundup:
Chelsea planning sales to fund Erling Braut Haaland pursuit?
Chelsea are reportedly planning to sell several first-team players in order to afford the purchase of Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Braut Haaland this summer.
The Blues have been strongly linked with the Norwegian, who is also understood to be attracting interest from other top European clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid.
football.london reports that Chelsea may look to sell Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga as well as defenders Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori in order to free up funds to sign the 20-year-old striker.
Kepa, who cost a world record £72m in 2018, has fallen behind new recruit Edouard Mendy and could look to move on for more regular first-team football, as could Christensen, who is behind Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma in the pecking order.
An impressive loan spell for Tomori at AC Milan could persuade the Italian giants to activate a buy option in his contract which is believed to be around £27m.
They also report that Real Madrid plan to sell players such as forward Luka Jovic, which could help them raise the money they need to sign Haaland.
Haaland will be available for around £68m in the summer of 2022, but with his release clause not coming into play until then, Dortmund would likely ask for around £100m this summer having only been with the German club since last year.
Bayern Munich beat Liverpool, Chelsea to signing Dayot Upamecano
Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed that the club are set to complete the signing of RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.
The 22-year-old is one of the most sought-after defenders in world football, with several top clubs in Europe interested in acquiring his services.
The German champions now appear to have beaten the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United to signing the defender, with sporting director Salihamidzic confirming that the transfer is close to completion.
When asked by Bild as to whether he could confirm that a deal has been agreed, Salihamidzic replied: "I can, and we are very happy about that at FC Bayern".
Sky Sports News are also reporting that the Frenchman will sign a five-year contract at the Allianz Arena and is likely to replace David Alaba, who is set to leave the club when this contract expires this summer.
Since joining Leipzig in 2017, Upamecano has featured nearly 140 times for the club, including 19 Bundesliga appearances this campaign.
