Chelsea have chosen to take no risks on Reece James during the Club World Cup this week.
Last week, head coach Thomas Tuchel stated that the academy graduate would play no part in Abu Dhabi as he continues to recover from a significant hamstring injury.
However, the right wing-back was a surprise inclusion when the group flew to the Middle East at the weekend, suggesting that he was under consideration for game time.
That will not be the case with the 22-year-old not being named in the 23-man squad which has been confirmed by FIFA.
James can now focus on improving his fitness and sharpness ahead of Chelsea's Premier League fixture away at Crystal Palace on February 19.
On the back of winning the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal on Sunday, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been added to the squad.
