Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle has pulled out of Germany's squad for the upcoming fixtures against Gibraltar and Spain.
The 24-year-old started for the Blues in their Champions League match against Maribor on Wednesday but, having been withdrawn at half time, was left out of the squad entirely for the trip to face Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.
A statement on the German team's website read: "Schurrle could only complete a reduced training programme in October due to illness.
"After consulting (national manager) Joachim Low, he will stay in London in order to complete individual training and optimise his fitness levels."
Schurrle played a key role in the German's World Cup victory in Brazil, coming off the bench to set up Mario Gotze for the winning goal against Argentina.
Germany face Gibraltar in a Euro 2016 qualifier on Friday before taking on Spain in a friendly a week on Tuesday.
