Chelsea youngster Omari Kellyman confirms he is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury that kept him out of action for around six months.

Chelsea attacker Omari Kellyman has confirmed that his season is over following his latest injury setback.

The highly-rated youngster spent 10 years in the Derby County academy before he made the switch to Aston Villa in March 2022.

After continuing his development at Villa, Kellyman completed a £19m move to Chelsea last summer, signing a six-year deal until the summer of 2030.

Unfortunately for the 19-year-old, he has experienced an injury nightmare in his first season as a Chelsea player, restricting him to just three Premier League 2 appearances for the Under-21 side.

Kellyman featured in two Premier League two matches in August, before he was forced to spend over six months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Kellyman confirms latest injury blow

The teenager made his return for Chelsea's Under-21s in Friday's 3-1 victory against Norwich City in Premier League 2.

Kellyman was on the pitch for his team's first two goals, but he was withdrawn in the 35th minute after he went to ground clutching his hamstring.

The England Under-19 international has now taken to social media to announce that he will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a recurrence of the hamstring issue that kept him on the sidelines for months.

In an Instragram post, Kellyman wrote: "Beyond gutted to say that this season has come to an early end for me due to a reinjury of my hamstring, despite only just returning after having hamstring issues for a massive part of this season.

Kellyman looking ahead to next season

"24/25 has been a tough season for me mentally and physically due to injury but it's important now that I take time to get this right and come out the other side stronger and better ready for what next season brings."

Kellyman, who is yet to make his senior debut for Chelsea, will now focus on returning to full fitness ahead of the 2025-26 season.

The starlet has the potential to be a useful player for the Blues if he can put his injury troubles behind him, having proven he can play on either flank, as an attacking midfielder and as a centre-forward. body check tags ::
