Norwich City's Billy Gilmour has returned to Chelsea for an assessment on his ankle injury.

The Scotland international suffered the problem during a training session, which meant that he missed out on the recent FA Cup game against Charlton Athletic.

"Gilmour has an ankle injury that puts him out for three to four weeks," said Norwich boss Dean Smith.

"He has gone back to Chelsea for them to assess it and I hope he will be back for treatment over the next few days."

The 20-year-old is spending the season on loan from the Blues, and has played 12 times in the Premier League, while also featuring twice during Norwich's EFL Cup journey.

However, he is now likely to miss out on the remainder of fixtures this month, and will not be available for their mid-week clash against West Ham United.
