Emmanuel Adebayor: 'We badly wanted to beat Chelsea'

Emmanuel Adebayor credits John Terry for his last-gasp effort to deny the Tottenham striker the winning goal against Chelsea last night.

Tottenham Hotspur loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed his frustration at failing to clinch three points for Spurs, but believes that they need to be "happy" with a point.

Chelsea captain John Terry denied the striker from claiming victory for Spurs in the last few minutes of the match at White Hart Lane, which ultimately secured a draw for the Premier League opponents.

"I knew what I was going to do in my head and when the ball came, that's what I did," Adebayor told the club's official website. "When I saw the ball on its way I thought 'yes', I was excited, I thought the ball was going into the back of the net.

"But unfortunately, John Terry was there. I don't have a clue where he came from. I don't even know how he saved the ball. Fair play to him.

"It was a tough game. We had chances, they had chances as well. We wanted to win so badly but in football, it doesn't always go the way you expect or the way you want. This time, we have to be happy with one point and keep our heads up, keep going and hopefully get a good result at Norwich on Tuesday."

Spurs play Norwich City at Carrow Road next Tuesday.
