Former England manager Fabio Capello has claimed that Italy boss Antonio Conte is "preparing" for the Chelsea job.
The 46-year-old is expected to sign a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge, becoming Jose Mourinho's permanent replacement following the Portuguese coach's exit in December.
While the appointment has not yet been made official, Capello has claimed that Conte will bring in a new defender amid reports that John Terry will leave the club at the end of the season.
"Conte is preparing for Chelsea," Capello told Fox Sports. "He has the time to arrive and train Chelsea in the best way, as this is an important club.
"I think the most important thing will be the team he is able to put on the field. He needs defenders and there aren't that many around.
"His communication with the players will also be fundamental. I myself had a difficult experience in Russia where I always had to speak through a translator."
Conte has been the Italy coach since 2014.
