Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas expresses his confidence that he can retain his position, adding that he is already looking forward to next season's campaign.

Under-fire Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has said that he is confident he can retain his position through to next season.

Rumours have suggested that the Portuguese coach may be out of a job much sooner after this weekend's FA Cup draw with Championship side Birmingham City.

The Blues next travel to Napoli for the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie, a game that is seen as a must-win for many fans.

However, despite the exit talk, Villas-Boas is sure he can keep his job and is already looking to next season's campaign.

"There is a belief in what we are going to do next year, setting out a team to win the biggest amount of trophies we can," said the 34-year-old.

"That doesn't undermine the responsibilities that we have this year. So bearing in mind those responsibilities this year, and the results we've been having, speculation is normal based on the cultural past of this football club.

"But we've got to understand sometimes there is a different perspective and I think that time is now."

Villas-Boas's side are currently fifth in the Premier League and look set to battle it out with Arsenal to secure the final Champions League spot for next season.
