Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that full-back Ryan Bertrand has a future at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old will finish the season on loan at Aston Villa following his move to the Midlands outfit after failing to secure a regular spot in the Blues first team.
However, Mourinho has suggested that Bertrand could play a role in his team next season.
"He has a future in Chelsea and a past," BBC Sport quotes Mourinho as saying. "Of course he has a future and the decision to let him got to Villa on loan was good. He is playing and that is what he needs to play every game so yes the doors are open to him and maybe next season he is with us."
Bertrand joined Chelsea's youth system in 2005.
