Chelsea are fined £375,000, while Tottenham Hotspur are fined £225,000 for failing to control their players in an ill-tempered clash at Stamford Bridge on May 2.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been fined by the Football Association after failing to control their players in an ill-tempered match at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.

The hosts have been hit with a £375,000 fine, while Spurs will have to fork out £225,000 as punishment for the scenes that occurred during the 2-2 draw on May 2.

Two mass brawls, one of which ended with Chelsea interim boss Guus Hiddink tumbling to the ground, marred the match that handed the Premier League title to Leicester City.

Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele was hit with an individual six-game ban for appearing to eye gouge Diego Costa, but now the clubs have been punished after admitting to three breaches of an FA rule.

A statement from the FA read: "[The fines follow] incidents which occurred in the 45th and 87th minutes and also at the end of their fixture at Stamford Bridge on Monday, May 2 2016. Prior to this fixture, Chelsea had breached FA Rule E20 on four separate occasions and Tottenham Hotspur twice since November 2014.

"Following the Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, both clubs were also warned as to their future conduct."

On Sunday, Chelsea ended the Premier League season 10th in the table, while Tottenham dropped to third, behind North London rivals Arsenal.
