Potential bids to takeover Premier League side Chelsea have been drawn up in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, according to a report.

The Champions League holders are owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who has been suggested to have had close ties with Russia President Vladimir Putin over the years.

In response to Russia's invasion into Ukraine on Thursday, several sanctions were imposed on Russia and its British-based assets by the UK Government.

Although no sanctions have been directly placed on Abramovich to this point, Bloomberg are reporting that interested parties in the London club are monitoring the situation closely.

Potential suitors, including some reportedly based in the United States, have begun drawing up takeover offers, although any parties remain anonymous at this stage.

Abramovich has owned Chelsea since 2003, and after investing heavily, he has overseen his side lift the Premier League trophy on five occasions during his ownership, as well as two Champions Leagues following last season's success. body check tags ::
