Chelsea are reportedly pushing for an increase to nine substitutes once the Premier League resumes later this month.
The Blues are back in training ahead of the top-flight's planned return on June 17, which comes 100 days on from the division's last match prior to the coronavirus-enforced shutdown.
Teams have previously been allowed to name seven players on their bench, but the Evening Standard claims that Chelsea want a further two players in their matchday squad.
That will give managers more options when it comes to making in-game changes, with five substitutions now permitted until the end of the campaign due to concerns over player fitness.
Lampard's men are locked in a battle for fourth place in the Premier League and are still in the Champions League and FA Cup.
