Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has branded his team's performance during their UEFA Super Cup defeat to Atletico Madrid as an "absolute joke".
The Blues were thrashed 4-1 by the Europa League champions in Monaco and Cole has apologised to the club's fans.
He tweeted: "Wellll that was a lesson, absolute joke no fight, desire, passion, and a big reality check!!!!!! #sorrycfcfans."
The last English team to win the Super Cup was Liverpool in 2005.
