Spain coach Vincent del Bosque has revealed that striker Diego Costa is managing a "situation with his pelvis".
Costa, who has been struggling with a hamstring injury since August, has been left out of Spain's squad for the November internationals, but Del Bosque has stated that, as well as an issue with his hamstring, the 26-year-old is also dealing with a second problem.
Del Bosque told reporters: "I have spoken to our doctors and those at Chelsea, and I have have decided to leave him out because of the situation with his pelvis.
"He may be able to play in Chelsea's next game but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have some type of injury problem."
Despite his absence, Costa is expected to feature in Chelsea's fixture with Liverpool on Saturday.
