Joe Hart and Daniel Sturridge have withdrawn from the England squad to face Italy on Wednesday.
Hart missed Manchester City's win over Chelsea in the Community Shield with a back injury and it has since forced him to withdraw from international duty.
Sturridge came off the bench in the Community Shield but suffered a toe injury and will now remain at Chelsea for treatment.
No decision has been made as to whether replacements will be called up.
