John Terry backs "top, top player" Radamel Falcao to leave his mark at Chelsea

Chelsea captain John Terry tips striker Radamel Falcao to put his Manchester United stint behind him and rediscover his talismanic best for the Blues.

John Terry has backed new Chelsea teammate Radamel Falcao to rediscover his red-hot form with the Premier League champions this season.

The Colombian striker joined the Blues on a season-long loan from AS Monaco, having netted just four times in a disappointing spell with Manchester United last term.

Jose Mourinho's side cruised to the title by an eight-point margin last season, but Terry says that Falcao was one of the few players that worried him and centre-back partner Gary Cahill.

"When we played him at the Bridge in April, after about 10 minutes, I said to Gary Cahill, 'We've got to be on it today - he's right up for it'," he told reporters.

"He was hungry, he was sharp and he has been showing that in training since he has joined us. For me, him and Harry Kane were the best players I came up against last season.

"Literally after two minutes of that game, he was backing in, showing the movement as well. We had a little tussle on the floor 10 to 15 minutes later. He was up for it. He was hungry and his movement and first touch were excellent. We are delighted to have him here because he's a top, top player."

Falcao could make his full debut for the Londoners in Sunday's Community Shield clash with FA Cup winners Arsenal.
