Jose Mourinho will not take a sabbatical following his sacking from Chelsea, according to a statement issued by agents CAA.

The Portuguese departed Chelsea 'by mutual consent' on Thursday after a disappointing start to the season.

It had been suggested that Mourinho, whose team lost nine of their first 16 league matches this term, would now take a break from the game in order to weigh up his options, but according to CAA, the experienced coach is "already looking forward".

"He will not be taking a sabbatical, he isn't tired... he is very positive, and is already looking forward," read the statement.

"Jose will remain living in London and hopes he and his family will be given the opportunity to do this privately. Jose will not speak about his current situation for the foreseeable future and he asks the media to respect this decision."

CAA also added that the 52-year-old would not be attending any "high-profile games" during the next couple of weeks.

Mourinho has been linked with a number of roles since leaving Stamford Bridge, with Real Madrid and Manchester United both touted as possible destinations for the Portuguese.
