New Chelsea signing N'Golo Kante has claimed that he is working hard to bring up his fitness levels in time for the start of the new season.
The France international moved to Stamford Bridge from Premier League champions Leicester City last month for a reported fee of £32m.
The midfielder was given an extended break after helping his nation reach the final of Euro 2016, but he has now joined up with his new teammates and will make his debut in a pre-season friendly against AC Milan in the US this evening.
"I chose Chelsea because I spoke with the manager (Antonio Conte) here and when I did that, I felt the capacity of the manager and that is why I made my decision, and of course I like Premier League football and that is why I decided to stay in the Premier League.
"I need to get fit because I have just come from a holiday, I had a little break since the Euros, and now the pre-season comes and I have to be ready for the Premier League.
"I think what is important is to fight for winning the ball, it is the spirit. I have had that since I started playing football, so it is the spirit but I need to be fit for doing it. Like everyone I am sometimes tired, but if I need to run I will try to run."
As well as Kante, the Blues have signed Michy Batshuayi so far this summer.
