Juan Mata: 'Chelsea are ready to win title'

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata believes that the team are ready to challenge for the Premier League title following wins over Manchester City and Arsenal.

Juan Mata has said that Chelsea's wins over Manchester City and Arsenal in the last three days prove that they are ready to win the Premier League title.

Jose Mourinho's side moved second in the table following their 2-1 win over City on Sunday, before beating the Gunners 2-0 in the Capital One Cup this evening.

The Spanish international, who scored the second of Chelsea's goals tonight, told Sky Sports News: "We tried our best as it was a difficult game because Arsenal are playing really well in the Premier League and Champions League.

"Looking at the opponents we had this week, they are probably two of the best teams in Europe right now and we beat them. So I think we are ready to try for the title, it's still soon in the season but we will try.

"The manager is the one who makes the decisions, but I always try my best for this club and that's what I'll always do. Today I enjoyed it, and I felt proud for the fans, but I'm really happy for Cesar [Azpilicueta, who opened the scoring]."

Chelsea travel to Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.
