Jose Mourinho critical of FA chiefs in wake of Nigel Pearson 'choke'

Jose Mourinho claims that he would be in "serious, serious trouble" had he grappled an opposing player in the same manner as Nigel Pearson.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has once more criticised Football Association chiefs, claiming that he would never have escaped punishment had he grappled an opposing player in the same way as Nigel Pearson.

The Leicester City manager avoided any sort of charge following his recent touchline spat with James McArthur, in which he appeared to grab the Crystal Palace midfielder by the throat before temporarily stopping him from re-entering the field of play.

Mourinho also recalled a recent coming-together with Arsene Wenger at Stamford Bridge last October, when the Frenchman shoved his opposite number in the technical area but also avoided retrospective punishment.

"I have only thoughts about myself, not about Nigel," he is quoted as saying by ESPN. "If I push a manager in my technical area, you know that I will be stadium banned.

"We all know. Why? We don't know. You can't say we don't know why, but I think we all know that if I do something like that I would be serious, serious trouble."

Mourinho was issued with a £25,000 fine last month for claiming that there was a "clear campaign" against Chelsea following their draw at Southampton.
