Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has claimed that he was not surprised by Manchester City's decision to spend £49m on Raheem Sterling.
The England winger completed the move from Liverpool on Tuesday, and Mourinho expects players' values to only increase once the new television deal kicks in.
"The market is inflated every year and we think the numbers are going to a dimension that cannot get more inflated?" Mourinho told the Sunday Mirror.
"This season we are saying, 'Oh look at this amount for Sterling' but it will be worse next season — next season [when the Premier League's new £5bn TV deal begins] someone will pay £60m.
"Football is like this: One season, there is Financial Fair Play; the next there is a way to dribble the Financial Fair Play."
Chelsea begin their defence of the Premier League title against Swansea City next month.
