Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has declared that Andre Schurrle has the right attitude to succeed at Stamford Bridge, but needs more time as he adapts to life in West London.
Schurrle left Bayer Leverkusen to join the Blues last summer in an £18m deal after impressing for club and country in a wide left role.
He told reporters at a pre-match press conference: "He needs some time to adapt to a different league, a different profile of competition.
"But he is a good player, an open kid who wants to work and to learn, so our hopes are on him. We are happy with the investment in such a young player."
The 22-year-old missed Chelsea's 4-1 win over Cardiff City last weekend with a leg muscle injury, but is back in contention for tonight's Champions League clash with Schalke 04 after travelling to Gelsenkirchen.
