Everton manager David Moyes has highlighted the importance of the early goal in his side's 2-0 win over Chelsea.
Steven Pienaar marked his second home debut for the club by scoring within five minutes, and his manager believes that was the vital incident in his side's surprise win.
"I think all victories when you're playing against the better teams is good honest hard work and good play when you get the chance to do so. We did both of them," said the Scot.
"I think to get a goal against Chelsea it meant we had something to hold onto. The first Premier League goal is always vital. I think against the bigger teams it's even more so."
The result means that Everton move up into tenth place in the Premier League, while Chelsea remain in fifth.
