Former FA chief: 'John Terry's racism verdict useful'

Former FA chief executive Mark Palios claims that the Football Association will take everything into consideration when deciding whether to punish John Terry after the Chelsea player was acquitted of racial abuse charges.

Former Football Association chief executive Mark Palios believes that the verdict regarding John Terry's racism case will be "useful" when they look at the situation.

The issue moves back into the hands of the English governing body after the Chelsea captain was cleared of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers centre-back Anton Ferdinand following a five-day trial at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

"The magistrate took time out, as well as confirming Anton Ferdinand was brave to stand as a witness, to make a point of saying that John Terry was a credible witness," Palios told Sky Sports News. "That's useful to John Terry for when the FA look at the disciplinary processes on this.

"It's a verdict that has come down through due process of the legal system. The FA had to stand back and let it happen. Now it's a question for the FA to look at the evidence and look at their disrepute charges."

Terry is expected to go on holiday before returning to Stamford Bridge for pre-season training.
