Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has hailed Yohan Cabaye as a "top player" for his assist in their 2-0 win against Chelsea this afternoon.
The Frenchman set up Yoan Gouffran with a deep free kick to give the Magpies the lead against Jose Mourinho's side, and Pardew praised his player for the delivery.
"You have to be a top, top player to hit that ball in, and Gouff connected brilliantly and gave us a platform then," he told BT Sport.
"I just asked him to hit it on the back of their back four with shape and a bit of pace because we weren't really getting any joy from balls going into their box.
"He went for glory, really, but he executed it on the money and I am not going to try to take any credit for that."
The win leaves Pardew's side ninth in the Premier League.
