Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has claimed that new signing Moussa Sissoko can play in the style of Frank Lampard for Chelsea.
Pardew revealed that he wanted a "traditional number 10" when he singed the Frenchman and says that Sisssoko fits the bill.
Sissoko's arrival has coincided with the Magpies' upturn in form, with Newcastle having won two of their last three matches, and Pardew is pleased with his start.
"I think he has really fitted the bill for what I wanted in this team," Pardew told reporters. "I wanted a traditional number 10.
"Today that is more of a midfielder's role rather than a striker's, with the exception of [Wayne] Rooney and [Marouane] Fellaini. I put Sissoko in that bracket.
"He's got that strength and stability to get wide players into the game. Frank Lampard did it from midfield for Chelsea all those years and I'm hoping Sissoko plays that role."
Sissoko and Pardew are currently preparing for Newcastle's game against Southampton tomorrow.
