Former Italy international Fabrizio Ravanelli has claimed that Roberto Di Matteo has the 'chance of a lifetime' to manage Chelsea following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.
Di Matteo, who had been part of the coaching set up at Stamford Bridge, will take charge of the Blues for the rest of the season after Villas-Boas was dismissed on Sunday after only nine months in charge.
"This is a great challenge, especially if we consider that Chelsea are in the Champions League," Ravanelli told Goal.com.
"I think that this is a chance of a lifetime for Roberto, getting to coach Chelsea is something that does not happen everyday.
"I hope he fully enjoys this opportunity, he truly deserves it. I know him well, he is an extraordinary guy, I am happy for him."
Chelsea are currently fifth in the Premier League table.
