Chelsea captain John Terry has played down the significance of losing this afternoon's Community Shield to Arsenal.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain struck on 24 minutes as the Gunners beat the Premier League champions 1-0 to clinch the early bragging rights ahead of the 2015-16 campaign.
The Blues cruised to league glory by an eight-point margin last season, and Terry says that reading too much into this setback would be a mistake.
Asked if the result had any bearing on the forthcoming season, he told reporters: "I don't think so.
"I think it's one of them where they [Arsenal] will probably come out and say differently. They do mean something, but win or lose, I don't think you can say that."
Chelsea begin the defence of their league title by hosting Swansea City next Saturday.
