Premier League champions Chelsea finished their season with a win on Sunday as they beat Sunderland 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Steven Fletcher gave the visitors a surprise lead, but substitute Diego Costa scored from the penalty spot to make it all square at the break.

Chelsea went ahead on 70 minutes through Loic Remy before the striker found the net again late on to seal the win.

CHELSEA

Goal

Petr Cech: Playing possibly his last game for Chelsea, the veteran shot-stopper made a handful of solid saves to keep Sunderland at arm's length. (7/10)

Defence

Branislav Ivanovic: Bombed up and down the right flank with plenty of energy. Almost scored with a rasping long-range drive in the first half. (7/10)

John Terry: Another fine showing from the Chelsea skipper, who led by example at the back. Kicked, blocked and tackled with his usual authority. (7/10)

Gary Cahill: Looked hungry for a goal at the other end of the pitch while working well alongside Terry inside his own penalty area. (7/10)

Cesar Azpilicueta: Failed to get forward as much as he could have. However, the full-back was dogged in his efforts to keep Sunderland out. (6/10)

Midfield

John Obi Mikel: Did a good job of anchoring the home side's midfield. Tackled hard and also got forward on a few occasions to help his team up front. (7/10)

Nemanja Matic: A dominant performance from the Serbian international. Covered every blade of grass with dynamism and was rewarded late on by setting up Remy for Chelsea's third goal. (8/10)

Juan Cuadrado: Looked very lively on the right wing during the first half, but an injury forced him off before the break. (7/10)

Willian: Offered the hosts a good outlet on the left, driving at the Sunderland defence and cutting inside to boost his side in attack. (7/10)

Eden Hazard: Capped a fine season with yet another exciting 90 minutes. Used his quick feet, clever brain and direct running to give the opposition problems all afternoon. (9/10)

Attack

Didier Drogba: Despite only playing for the opening half an hour, Drogba did himself proud on his final appearance for the club with a robust showing in attack. (7/10)

Substitutes

Diego Costa: Gave as good as he got after coming off the bench on 30 minutes, scoring from the penalty spot to get Chelsea level before wrestling with the Sunderland defence. (7/10)

Loic Remy: Looked hungry for the ball in the second half, culminating in two well-taken goals. Got into plenty of good positions to keep Sunderland on their collective toes. (7/10)

Andreas Christensen: The young defender slotted in impressively after entering the action with 12 minutes left to play. (6/10)

SUNDERLAND

Goal

Vito Mannone: Made a few good stops between the sticks, but should have done much better for Chelsea's second goal. (5/10)

Defence

Billy Jones: Fought hard for the Sunderland cause, though he was given a tough time by Willian down the left flank. (6/10)

John O'Shea: Was forced to soak up a lot of pressure with his teammates. While not always looking comfortable, O'Shea showed his experience by making a couple of good tackles. (7/10)

Sebastian Coates: Combined well with O'Shea at the heart of Sunderland's defence. That said, the Uruguayan looked tired late on. (6/10)

Patrick van Aanholt: Put in a dynamic shift at left-back. Showed determination to get forward, though that sometimes left him exposed at the back. (6/10)

Midfield

Jack Rodwell: Struggled to make an impact on his return to the starting XI. Was frequently overwhelmed by the likes of Matic and Mikel in midfield. (5/10)

Sebastian Larsson: Gave the visitors a threatening presence at set pieces, but found it difficult to influence the game elsewhere. (6/10)

Adam Johnson: Linked well with his teammates when they went on the counter-attack. Could have done more to help out at the back. (6/10)

Connor Wickham: An inconsistent performance from the winger, who only came alive in fits and starts down the right flank. (5/10)

Attack

Jermain Defoe: Showed his unselfish side by tracking back to help the Black Cats when they were under pressure. Had a couple of chances at the other end, but failed to provide a genuine threat. (6/10)

Steven Fletcher: Took his goal well to give the visitors a surprise lead in the first half. Should have drawn his side level after the break when he somehow headed over from close range. (6/10)

Substitutes

Emanuele Giaccherini: A quiet cameo from the Italian. Came on with 15 minutes left and could not help his team turn the game back in their favour. (5/10)
