Chelsea have reached the fourth round of the Carling Cup with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out win against Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
The visitors could have won it in normal time when Alex fouled Kerim Frei in the penalty area, but Pajtim Kasami missed his spot kick. The incident saw the Brazilian defender given his marching orders for the challenge.
As the match moved in to extra time, both sides pushed hard to make the breakthrough but neither could find the target.
Frank Lampard missed Chelsea's first penalty kick in the shoot-out, but further misses by Mousa Dembele and Bryan Ruiz saw the Blues progress.
