Chelsea come from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Chelsea scored two goals in the final 11 minutes to rescue a 2-2 draw at Newcastle United.

The Blues had the opportunity to move ahead with just four minutes on the clock when they won a free kick in a dangerous position, Kurt Zouma shooting just inches wide from the set piece.

There was a half chance for Chelsea in the 12th minute as Branislav Ivanovic lined up Loic Remy at an awkward angle, from which the Frenchman could only steer the ball wide for a goal kick.

The Magpies applied some pressure of their own moments later when Moussa Sissoko skewed an effort just wide of Asmir Begovic's goal, and they threatened again in the 25th minute as Ayoze Perez drilled wide.

Begovic was called into action on the half-hour mark as Perez combined with Daryl Janmaat and the Dutchman forced a reaction save out of the former Stoke City stopper at close range.

Newcastle were the better team in the first half, and they took a deserved lead three minutes from the break when Janmaat's searching ball got the better of Zouma and Ivanovic, allowing Perez to volley beyond Chelsea's Bosnian keeper and silence the visiting supporters.

The Magpies restricted Chelsea to long-range efforts early in the second half before hitting them with a second on the hour mark.

Georginio Wijnaldum got the better of Cesc Fabregas in the area to head home Perez's corner and double Newcastle's advantage.

The match was not over though, and Ramires pulled a goal back in the 79th minute, controlling Eden Hazard's pass before beating Tim Krul from long range.

Pedro came close to equalising four minutes later but shot over the bar when one-on-one with Krul.

The comeback was complete in the 87th minute when Willian's free kick evaded everybody and ended up in the back of the net.

Ramires could have snatched all three points in stoppage time but Krul saved his close-range header.
